Since 1988, SUSSEX Management Associates has researched, developed and presented skills development training for the public and private sectors of law enforcement.
Because we strive to maintain quality and continuity, we work with Chiefs, Training Officers, criminal justice professors, and specialists to design a curriculum that compliments--rather than duplicates--those currently available. Our report writing classes are certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Board. To date, officers and civilian personnel from more than 500 Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana municipalities have attended our classes at Northwestern University, training regions throughout Illinois, College of DuPage, and individual police departments, among others.
Your instructor Pat Banas, Director of Sussex Management Associates, has thirty- plus years as a practitioner and trainer in both the public and private law enforcement environment.
Her law enforcement career began in 1971 at the Cook County [Illinois] State's Attorneys Office. Assignments included the Special Prosecutions Unit/Homicide Investigations, the Financial Crimes Division and special assignment to the, then, Illinois Bureau of Investigations. In 1974, she joined the Sheriff's Police Department, served eight years in the Patrol Division and, in 1978, received the rank of Patrol Sergeant. During this period, she also taught for the Police Training Academy. In 1981, Pat joined the First National Bank of Chicago as a Staff Officer in the Corporate Investigations Unit. She remained there until she established Sussex Management Associates in 1988. Pat received her B.A. from DePaul University and attended Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, Class 131. Pat developed "Seventeen (17) Standards for Effective Report Writing" and the Illinois Law Enforcement Officers Training Board certified her classes entitled "Report Writing for Police Officers" and "Report Writing for Report Review Officers / Report Writing for Supervisors and FTOs." Her defensive driving classes are attended by police officers and other municipal employees. Specialized classes on interpersonal communications skills for telecommunicators and non-crisis negotiation skills are presented on an as-requested basis to both public and private criminal justice agencies. |
